Program areas at JLA
Coats for kids - jla worked with del valle independent school district (isd) and Austin isd to receive coat orders in advance, and cfk volunteers selected and packed 11,224 individual orders received from those schools. Cfk then distributed an additional 20,914 coats to other schools, nonprofits, and organizations throughout central Texas. By partnering with local groups, not only is jla helping provide a tangible necessity to The people served, but it also strengthens relationships and potential for future collaboration.
Food in tummies (fit) - provides weekend nourishment to children grades k-5 who qualify for The national school lunch program. In addition to funding this program, The League maintains a food pantry within our headquarters. During 2022-2023 school year, The fit program provided approximately 800 backpacks each week to The entire student populations at both baty elementary and hillcrest elementary and all three of dvisd's remote-student meal pick-up sites.
Community projects - The Junior League of Austin (jla) provides volunteers and funding to area non-profit agencies for The benefit and enrichment of The Austin community and The development and education of our League volunteers. Each year, The Junior League of Austin invests thousands of volunteer hours to community agencies and programs. This year, more than 1,000 League members will provide more than 50,000 volunteer hours to The League's projects and programs.
Other programs The The Junior League of Austin supports includes our membership with more than 2,000 active, provisional, and sustaining members. Our membership includes business owners, working mothers, professional women and stay-at-home moms from diverse backgrounds and all are full-time or part-time volunteers coming from communities surrounding The Austin area.austin entertains supports entrepreneurs and innovative women in The culinary arts by showcasing The Austin area's top chefs, bartenders, spirit purveyors, winemakers and industry leaders while benefiting The Junior League of Austin. Since 2020, over $54,500 has been awarded through The Austin entertains fellowships which help further their educational, business and/or professional development.a christmas affair is a five-day annual holiday market that raises key funds for The signature programs of The Junior League of Austin, as well as The 30+ community projects The Junior League supports each year. In addition to ticket sales, over 200 merchant fees, and parties tickets The proceeds from The sales of The very same decor that transforms palmer events center into a christmas affair fuels The mission of The Junior League of Austin. This allows us to continue our work of empowering women and serving our community.
