2022 Form 990 Program AccomplishmentsPersevering through another year of global challenges hasn't been easy but we continue to see lives transformed through intentional efforts that bring health, hope, healing. We celebrate the good work our donors are making possible. We are committed to seeing lives changed! Completion of Valley Light Home, where 35 children find safety and love within a family setting. After four grueling years of a global pandemic, repeated crisis, and supply chain challenges, we crossed the finish line on our largest project to date with excellence. This has been our largest project to date and we are very excited to see it completed. A successful deep-water borehole, solar pumping, and clean water system for Grain of Rice Academy. Distributed 1000 life-saving water filters to families in need stopping water-borne diseases. WASH - Water Filter, Sanitation, and Hygiene training have been provided to over 300+ people in 2021. Water Filter Follow-up Program - We continued our follow up program in Central and Southern Kenya. Our southern Kenya team travels weekly to do follow up on our filters in the surrounding area collecting essential data and building good community relationships in the areas we serve. We continue to gather excellent feedback on the health the filters are providing. This vital process allows us to analyze the water filter data to monitor our success rates carefully and make any adjustments in the areas in which we serve. We are currently collecting the data using a paper-based system and entering it into spreadsheets. Then it is uploaded and shared in a cloud-based system that is accessible anywhere in the world. Replaced a water well pump and added surge protection at the Lenkai water point. Provided Operational Funding to Valley Light Home during a season of crisis and extreme need. Expanded water storage at Kutoa Project's Nairobi headquarters ensuring counseling services to children and vital training to caregivers could continue moving forward. Purchased needed items for Valley Light Home from our Furnish Their Future Campaign enabling the family to move in and feel right at home with all they needed to start a new chapter together. Installed sprinklers and landscaping for Valley Light Home, making it a beautiful place to call home. Installed two high-quality playgrounds for the children at Valley Light Home, bringing joy and fun for the children and staff to connect outside in a safe environment. Provided an in-depth three-day Trauma Training for Hope Beyond Rescue Center and Lenkai Christian School staff and caregivers, feedback from staff was transformational in how they understood the children in their care and how to support them to find healing from traumatic situation in their past. Valley Light staff and volunteers successfully facilitated and held their first water filter distribution without the US-based team being there, reaching their community with clean water, sanitation, and hygiene training. Expanded the chicken project at Hope Beyond by adding 500 chicks, greatly building their sustainability efforts towards food security and residual income from egg sales. Full Sponsorship of 54 children - providing education, room, and board as well as medical treatments and counseling. Education - Just One Africa is working with our partners to identify the children with the greatest need of support and match them with sponsors who can help with education, medical, housing, and food costs. This creates an opportunity for individuals and families to learn about the world around them and have meaningful avenues to care for others. We have provided educational support for 54 children attending primary and secondary schools in Kenya. Just One Africa partners with local leaders to create sustainable solutions for vulnerable children and the clean water crisis. These realities are made possible by Just One Africa donors who have provided many opportunities for our incredible partners in Kenya. They can now move more securely towards providing for the needs of the vulnerable children they care for. Our partners work diligently running schools, an orphanage, and a rescue center. We empower them with viable avenues to build even stronger foundations for the programs they have implemented in their communities, which is what Just One Africa is all about!
