Program areas at JusticeAid
Throughout 2022 JusticeAid promoted awareness about LGBTQ rights and raised money for our grantee partner, SMYAL. JusticeAid fulfilled its mission by granting $500,000 to SMYAL during 2022. In May 2022, JusticeAid produced a unique live concert hosted by Emmy Award winner Mark Ruffin, featuring contemporary artists performing a tribute to Bessie Smith, Empress of the Blues and JusticeAids Fall music concert in Washington, DC, was, An evening with Kandace Springs. Both concerts included performances by spoken-word artist, Paine the Poet. In October, JusticeAid hosted a free public forum in partnership with the Riverside Church of New York, Erasure: The Otherization of Queerness, featuring panelists who shared their personal stories overcoming discrimination against LGBTQ persons.100% of ticket sales and sponsorships from both music concerts provided unrestricted funds for JusticeAids 2022 grantee partner. A circle of loyal donors covered all operating costs and program expenses so that 100% of other donations supported our grantee partners work.
