Program areas at Kasumisou Foundation
Our aids patients family support program (fsp) provides housing, food support and school expenses to destitute cambodian women - and their dependent children - suffering from mid to late stages of aids. Specifically, the fsp program provides the following types of support.- basic housing or rent support- a monthly food allowance- support for school expenses for dependent children of primary/secondary school age- basic medicines and transportation to medical checkups or for hospitalization- regular home visits, counseling and emotional support- support for funeral expensesin 2023 the fsp supported approximate 17 aids afflicted women and their dependent children. Having, in recent years, transitioned many of our patients out of the program and toward lives of independence, we remain committed to supporting the most destitute and disadvantaged women including those who are old or stricken by illness or caring for disabled children and therefore are unable to live without the vital support
The champey academy of arts (caa) is our school teaching traditional cambodian arts to children in central phnom penh.at the caa we provide a rigorous program of daily training in traditional dance, music, drawing and painting for children in central phnom penh, including some orphaned or abandoned children or those from disadvantaged, dysfunctional, abusive or neglectful family environments. Having first opened its doors in january 2013, the school serves approximately 85 to 105 young people per day.
Fatima self help centre for women and girls: we have had a nearly twenty year relationship with the fatima centre but, in recent years, we had supported them solely through the purchase of the goods produced in their sewing program for disadvantaged women. However, beginning in 2020 and continuing through the present, we try to give very modest support to help just a few of the women there who were struggling to meet even the most basic needs of their families.
