Program areas at Kenneth A Picerne Foundation
The global sustainability project ("gsp") and the educational visions program ("evp") is expanded with A wide range of schools, educators, hospitals and researchers over A broad geographic area. The gsp is A year long program for high school juniors. The objective is to help future leaders develop an understanding and life experience with another culture very different than their own and to contribute their skills in sustaining their environment, both locally and internationally. The initial project for the evp is anticipated to identify schools and hospitals with outstanding educators and researchers in the areas of science (including medicine), technology, engineering, art and math ("steam"). The idea is to work on the planning and construction of A facility or building, as well as, assisting the teachers and doctors with acquiring supplies and development and expansion of the steam programs at schools and research at hospitals.
The social entrepreneur fund provides 3-to-5 years of significant flexible general operating support to social entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations during the growth phase of organizational development. In addition, the Foundation provides ongoing coaching, management consultation, organizational development, administrative training, and development/fundraising assistance. Nonprofits, and entrepreneurial nonprofit leaders, chosen for the social entrepreneur fund have A track record of demonstrated success and high potential for growth and social impact.
Through the artist outreach project, the Foundation awards grants to accomplished visual, performing and literary artists, age 55 and older. These grants support the artists' efforts in giving back to their community. Each artist spends six to eight hours A week with the non-profit organization of their choice, sharing their talent in arts-based services that are both educational and therapeutic. The Foundation provides support and direction to artists and provides funding for materials directly related to the projects artists pursue with underservedgroups of all ages. Since it's inception artist outreach grant recipients provided services to more than 16,000 individuals at 137 nonprofit organizations in san diego and orange county, California.
