Program areas at Kennett Area Community Service

The food cupboard provides a 7-10 day supply of food to 1,911 unduplicated families, or 5,547 individuals (representing 588 seniors; 3,283 adults; and 1676 children) annually. The monthly average of families served is 825. Kacs provided 584 families an additional food distribution for thanksgiving dinner. Kacs provided 678 families an additional food distribution for christmas dinner.
Educational programs - implementation of bridges out of poverty, interventions to reduce poverty for individual families. 81 Community members and agency staff trained in bridges, as well as 14 graduates in the getting ahead program and 8 savers in the financial empowerment program. Community raised beds for gardening were implemented and maintained in the food cupboard program with volunteers and participants. Vegetables harvested were distributed in the food cupboard program.
Emergency assistance - provides case management services for a period of one to twelve months to 533 households. Some of these households only received case management, some received financial assistance for hotel stays, rent, utilities or other basic needs as crisis intervention.
New commmunity housing development program beginning fiscal year 2024.
