Program areas at Kenosha Education Association
The purposes of this organization shall be: to aid and assist members in obtaining and extending benefits of mutual assistance and collective bargaining; to develop among the profession and the public a better understanding of the issues and problems in the area of educators' rights; to advance the civil and academic rights of those in the educational field; to encourage all members, without regard to age, race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identification, marital status, disability, ethnicity, immigration status, national origin, ancestry, occupation, and religion, to share equally in the full benefits of this organization, the Wisconsin Education Association council, and the national Education Association; to work for legislation which will safeguard and promote the principle of free collective bargaining and the rights of those working in the Education field and to oppose legislation contradictory to these objectives; to promote and use all appropriate media to advance and promote the Education profession and the individual rights of the members of the Education profession through Education and other lawful means; to safeguard the democratic character of the Association for protection of the rights of the Education profession and its individual members through the organization of this Association and the organizations with which it affiliates; to provide for involvement of minority members in Association activities; to encourage members to register and vote and to exercise their full rights and responsibilities of citizenship and to perform their rightful part in the political life of local, state, and national communities while preserving the independence of our members and the Education profession from political control; to engage in political activity permitted to a labor organization by law in furtherance of the objectives set forth in this article; to promote the human and civil rights and Education welfare of all students; to promote the improvement of instruction; to work towards the improvement of member Education and professional development; to develop and promote the adoption of such ethical practices, personnel policies, and standards of preparation and participation as mark a profession; to unify and strengthen the Education profession and to secure and maintain the salaries, retirement, tenure, professional and sick leave, and other working conditions necessary to support those who work in the Education field; to enable members to speak with a common voice on matters pertaining to the Education profession and to present their individual and common interests before the board of Education and other legal authorities; to hold property and funds and to employ a staff for the attainment of these purposes.
