Program areas at Keta Legacy Foundation

Community grants: Keta Legacy Foundation funds conservation education efforts of partner organizations that share our mission and vision. We offer several competitive grants over the year. The Foundation made grants to partner organizations to inspire and educate youth and adults about our region and its ecology.
Education: the Foundation offers several education opportunities at the preserve, including passive recreation as well as active events. In 2023, the Keta Legacy Foundation hosted over 100 elementary, secondary & post-secondary students on the rhododendron preserve in educational and conservation/restoration activities. The Foundation also partners with girl scouts of america in a tree planting program on the preserve. Keta Legacy Foundation played host and provided docents for the annual salmon tours event at the rhododendron preserve. This annual event provides close up experiences for the public to see spawning salmon in their native habitat.
Rhododendron preserve: the mature forests and salmon-bearing streams within this unique preserve provide a glimpse of natural habitats with minimal human impact. The preserve is comprised of 466 acres of land managed for conservation and low-impact visitor access. The mature conifer forests and streams are home to bear, bobcat and several species of salmon. The Foundation maintains a trail to the oldest publicly accessible douglas fir on the kitsap peninsula.
