Intellectual disability services:kss' intellectual disability services supports people with intellectual disablity to live full, meaningful lives in their communities. Understanding the importance of natural supports, individuality, respect, and choice, intellectual disability services aims to encourage people to build relationships, actively participate in the community, and pursue their goals. Kss offers support for individuals with intellectual disability through behavior support services, community participation support, life sharing services, residential services, and supported living and employment services. Intellectual disability services encourage long-term relationships and stress natural supports, individuality, respect, choice, and the dignity of risk. Kss served approximately 752 individuals through its intellectual disability services during the fiscal year.
Mental health services:kss' adult mental health services is committed to supporting and empowering individuals on their personal journey of recovery. Services supports growth and positive individual choices that lead to lives filled with dignity, respect and valued social roles. Some community-based services provided include peer support, community residential rehabilitation, domiciliary care, psychiatric rehabilitation, intensive case management, and supported living and employment. Kss' adult mental health services are offered in a variety of settings ranging from homes of the individuals served, kss owned homes, the community, employment centers, psychiatric rehabilitation programs, and drop-in centers. Kss served approximately individuals 716 through its adult mental health services during the fiscal year.
Susquehanna Service dogs & other services:kss' susquehanna Service dogs raises, trains, and places Service dogs and hearing dogs, as well as facility dogs, to assist children and adults with disability to become more independent. Founded in 1993, susquehanna Service dogs has placed over 300 Service dogs with people throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding states. Susquehanna Service dogs is accredited by assistance dogs international and has placed 21 Service dogs during the fiscal year. Other services kss provides including but not limited to peer support services, intensive case management & psychiatric rehabilitation. Kss also operates in the state of Delaware where individuals are supported through intellectual disability services and autism services.
Capital area head start education services:kss' capital area head start (cahs) gives children a head start in life, empowers parents, and strengthens families. The goal of cahs is to prepare children and families for success in school and in life. Cahs pre-kindergarten programs are comprehensive, state and federally funded child development programs serving children ages 3-5. In addition, early head start program serves children ages birth to three and women who are pregnant. Programs are designed to increase children's literacy, congnitive development, and social-emotional development, as well as support children's health and well-being. Cahs serves over 979 children and familes in central Pennsylvania.
