Program 1: Killing My Lobster is dedicated to producing high-quality, relevant, and fearless sketch comedy that makes people laugh. We are committed to finding the best and most diverse comedic talent in the Bay Area and bringing those artists together to create original and innovative shows. KML strives to accurately represent the best of the Bay Area and push the boundaries of whats possible in sketch comedy today. In 2022, KML produced 5 original sketch comedy shows: Good Grief, Let's Do The Sex, My Parents Came To America And All They Got Was A Kid Who Does Comedy, Freddy Kreuger's Day Off, and A Very Special Holiday Special.
Program 3: In 2022, we continued to require directors and instructors to utilize our Equitable Casting Guidelines and have begun implementing the Student Bill of Rights and Artist Bill of Rights. We remain committed to our inclusion goals of BIPOC and women writers on 100% of writing teams and having at least 60% of writing positions, 60% of performer positions, and 60% of director positions in a season to be filled by BIPOC, trans, non-binary, and/or queer artists.
Program 2: We continued to expand our fellowship program which has been renamed the New Voices in Comedy Fellowships. This program and our BIPOC Scholarship program are designed to amplify voices from the Bay Area BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities by providing them with professional sketch comedy instruction through our writing and acting classes. We awarded writing fellowships to 6 artists and BIPOC scholarships to 3 artists.
