Program areas at Kimball Art Center
Events: Kimball Art Center organizes the Park City Kimball Arts Festival (PCKAF) because we believe the arts should be celebrated in the community and because they provide a valuable way for communities to come together. Each year, we invite artists, local families, and visitors to gather in a lively outdoor setting furnished with high quality art, live music, performances, educational activities, film, and culinary offerings. To ensure PCKAF delivers a dynamic cultural experience for visitors and locals alike, KAC works with key partners, cash and in-kind sponsors, community stakeholders, and over 300 energetic volunteers. Now in its 54th year, PCKAF is one of the longest running and most highly anticipated art festivals in the Western United States. In addition to the Arts Festival, Kimball Art Center regularly hosts community lectures, panels, and other smaller events with the goal of engaging the public in a conversation around art and ideas.
Exhibitions: Our exhibitions program is expansive and strong, focusing on relevant contemporary art from around the state, country and world. We believe art provides a conduit for deep human connection, and all of our programs reflect the knowledge that the arts are uniquely suited to sustain a vibrant community, challenge our assumptions, celebrate diverse perspectives, and ultimately build a better community for all. In 2023 we worked with local, national, and international artists to bring diverse perspectives and thrilling visual art to our center. Our exhibitions programs feed into our education programming, taking what's inside our space out into the community and into schools to broaden our impact.
Education: Our education programs are robust, and serve a deliberately wide swath of the community, from toddlers to seniors and across many mediums and skill levels. We take art on the road through our outreach programs to schools across the county, bringing high quality visual art education to places within and outside the bounds of Park City. And in partnership with Park City Education Foundation, the much-loved EVA program (Elementary Visual Arts) places high-quality art education in our Park City School District from K-5th grade. From numerous studies, we know art education isn't just a "nice to have," it is an essential piece of a child's education, building problem solving skills, creative thinking, and a deep empathy and understanding of a diverse range of viewpoints and backgrounds. We also offer an in-depth, multi-disciplinary studio program for teens as well as a program for senior members of our community.
