Dispute Resolution Center of King County promotes meaningful pathways for everyone to engage with conflict, learn from each other, and grow in community. The center successfully operates all small claims court mediations in King County, supporting the district courts and helping people find a useful alternative to court through mediation. In the last year, KCDRC undertook and completed the creation of a new basic mediation training curriculum focused on BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and the formerly incarcerated.

Program areas at Dispute Resolution Center of King County

We have continued our work in supporting tenants and landlords working through rental housing disputes. This work in the housing space is an area that we consistently get requests for, mostly due to all the existing challenges in the space, but also because there are housing providers and tenants both struggling to catch up from the impact of the pandemic
We have continued to provide and improve our Conflict Resolution Training. This includes the continued evolution of our curriculum for CoRE (Conflict Resolution for Everyone) which is our Basic Mediation Training program. We have dramatically increased the diversity of our student base and have dramatically increased student knowledge gain.
We continued to successfully operate all of the Small Claims Court Mediations in King County, this work supports the District Courts and in the last year helped lessen the case burden for the courts and helped people find a useful alternative to court through mediation.
We have other, smaller programs including our Youth Development program which supports peer mediation in public schools, we have community mediation, family mediation, workplace mediation work that we do as well
