Kinston Teens empowers young people through service, leadership, and civic engagement. They have responded to crises and natural disasters while organizing against gun violence and poverty. They coordinated a large-scale Get-out-the-Vote effort during the 2022 election season and hosted early voting events at two locations. Additionally, Kinston Teens continues to host COVID-19 testing and vaccination events to support their community.

Program areas at Kinston Teens

Coordinated a large-scale Get-out-the-Vote effort throughout 2022 election season Hosted 7 early voting events at the Teachers Memorial and Holloway Recreation Center voting locations. Continued hosting COVID-19 Testing & Vaccination events to help our community slow the spread. NC Governor Roy Cooper visited one of our vaccination and testing events in January to commend the org on our efforts. Hosted 11 leadership development events focused on providing skills and training for young people ages 12 to 22. Provided 6 high school and college-aged youth with summer internship opportunities. Launched a Community Disaster Preparedness Survey to learn about community strengths and weaknesses in face of natural disasters.
