Baby & methis is a pre-swimming class with parent participation parent and child (newborns 10 week - toddlers 36 months)work together with the coaches to learn skills including back floats, submersions (not forced) & rollover breathing, with introduction to strokes, through fun positive reinforcement, cues & lots of hugs and kisses, family environment with expert instruction. Learn the importance of "breath, balance & buoyancy"stroke team is a year round continuation of our learn to Swim program & introduction to the tsunami Swim team. Stroke team is designed to develop your child's swimming endurance, as well as, refining stroke technique. Even though your child may feel comfortable in a swimming pool environment, they need to develop muscle strength and lung capacity.what would happen if they fell out of a motor boat, sailboat, surfboard, kayak, tube on a river, paddle board? Fell off a dock, river bank, or caught up in a heavy surf? Could they Swim to safety?stroke team offered year round & is a non-competitive segue to the sport of swimming & the sarasota tsunami Swim team. While your child is developing their swimming skills, they may decide that swimming is the sport they love. And we would love to have them be part of our team.tsunami Swim teamstroke team our entry level group with swimmers usually graduating in from Swim lessons. Each young swimmer should be able to go 25 yards freestyle with side breathing and be able to put their face in the water, backstroke, as well as Swim in water over their heads. Doggy paddle is not a Swim stroke. This group practices twice each week for one hour. Competition is not required, but we do offer local and very low key races.ages 5 - 8 years old blue team will be for swimmers 8 & younger who show they have advanced beyond stroke team. They will focus on learning all four strokes, turns, starts and how to read a pace clock and to do small Swim and kick sets.silver team will be for swimmers 9 yrs. & younger who are ready to focus on being strong competitive swimmers. They will continue working on all the parts of blue team and include practicing Swim and kick in all four strokes. Their Swim sets will begin to be longer in duration but will not yet be in what most would consider 'hard core' training. This is a stepping stone to the junior teams.varsity team is for 9 yrs. & older generally beginning swimming for the first time. Focus will be on teaching all four strokes and kicks, turns and starts. Modest training to prepare to move into either silver or junior teams.junior team is for 8 - 12 yr. olds, swimmers in this group are competitive, practice training all four strokes in both swimming and kicking. Previously this group was known as silver team. There will be two training groups at this level. One will be from 3:00 - 4:30 pm, the other will be from 5:00 - 6:30 pm. Both groups will do 'drylands' together each day. The earlier group is to both accommodate swimmers whose school day ends earlier as well as helping to alleviate crowding in our 5 - 6 time slot.junior 2 is for 9 - 13 yr. olds, swimmers in this group are highly competitive, have a goal of successfully competing at flags and beyond and are committed to practicing 5 - 6 times a week and should include saturday practices.senior team is for swimmers 12 yrs. And older, though mainly focused on hs aged swimmers. They are expected to attend four or more practices each week, which should include saturday practice.senior elite team is for swimmers 12 yrs. And older, swimmers are committed to all practices each week. These swimmers are focused on scoring at the hs state level as well as competing at junior and senior nationals.
