A Womens Center was built to support healthcare improvements in the community. It will be used for vaccination campaigns, health training (e.g. nutrition, hygiene, etc.), ophthalmology and other community needs. It will also be an opportunity for women to run small businesses to improve household finances. This is in response to recommendations from the District Medical Officer in Burkina Faso when the Health Center was opened.
The primary school in Konkourona has been extremely successful in improving student learning and standardized test scores as a result of efforts over the past 5 years, enabling students to pass the exam for entrance to middle school, but there was no middle school. A new middle school was built in Konkourona for grades 7-10.
A new middle school was constructed but there was no housing available for the middle school director or teachers. Construction of new housing was started with the intention of renting to the educators who need it.
Dr Jules Millogo is a brother of the Vice President of Association Mami Siara Na. During the year ended April 30, 2024 MSNs Vice President, Mr Victorien Mar Millogo, was paid a salary totaling $ 6,000 to compensate for time spent away from his farm to oversee development projects supported by KAFO and MSN. Development projects in Konkourona support parties who are related and unrelated to KAFO President, Dr. Jules Millogo, and MSN Vice President, Victorien Mar Millogo. Irene Millogo is a new Board member who is also a niece to Dr Jules Millogo. The remaining wages of $2,850 were paid to accounting and program management personnel.
Significant development activities have been completed in Konkourona since KAFO was founded in 2019. There is an increasing need for management of those activities, which span programs for education, healthcare, water and sanitation, economic development, and environmental protection. A headquarters building was constructed to serve as an office for the community and temporary housing for government officials and visitors, who come to inspect, and for teachers as new schools and more permanent housing for the teachers can be built. Construction of a middle school, technical school and high school are planned for the coming years. The headquarters building was opened in Sep-2022.
