2023 was a year of sustained growth and deep impact for the Lamb Center for Arts and Healing. The organization was selected as a recipient of an Industrial Revitalization Fund grant from the VDHCD which will allow for the interior renovation of our currently vacant building in Downtown Hopewell. While work on prepping the 230 E Broadway space took place, programming grew by over 30% thanks to meaningful partnerships with community organizations.
Lamb Arts launched a new community initiative in celebration of the City in 2023. Hopewell Proud is an initiative rooted in the concepts of positive psychology and is intended to create a shift in the way the Hopewell community sees and talks about itself. The initiative includes an instagram page, website, and public art campaign. HCPS students were invited to create their own Hopewell Proud designs; four of these were selected to be displayed on billboards throughout the city.Lamb Arts also welcomed over 1,200 community members to its 4th annual Lamb Arts Fest, continued its well-loved Button Project, brought the Creative Aging program to local nursing home residents, and grew its material access program to include check-out kits at the Hopewell Library and Free Art Boxes across the City.
The Creative Change Makers Teen Leadership Program welcomed its fifth cohort of students and expanded the program to include recent graduates as College Captains. The students partnered with a local nonprofit that supports victims of domestic violence, assembling hygiene kits and creating collaborative artwork to highlight the mission of the group. The 2022-2023 school year welcomed a partnership with Hopewell Public Schools to provide workshops, teacher training, and event support. This included a series of unique bi-weekly workshops at the City's alternative-setting school, enabling students to explore and make art that they would not otherwise have access to. The Center also offered three teacher trainings to Hopewell teachers and staff.
