The Landsharks Running Club is a non-competitive youth program for kindergarten through 6th grade that helps develop young athletes in positive, safe, character-based programs. The focus is on having fun, competing against individual abilities, improving personal skills, being an encouraging teammate, making new friends, and promoting a healthy lifestyle. In the fall, we off a cross country Running series where k-1 run a 1/2 mile and 2nd-6th grade can choose between a 1 mile or 1.5 mile course. Our spring track series offers our runners to compete in a dash and a longer distance race. Distances in the spring are either a 50m, 100m and a 200m dash, followed by either a 400m, 800m or 1600m event. We also offer summer camp which is open to kindergarten through 8th grade students. Our summer camp track camp introduces the fundamentals of field events such as javelin, hurdles, shot put and long jump and Running events and is offered two weeks of the summer. We also have a week-long cross country camp that focuses on the longer distances, all with an emphasis on fun. We train parents, teachers and former landshark runners, who are now high school and collegiate athletes, to lead and coach all our programs. We have over 100 schools participating throughout the Colorado springs area, monument, woodland park, castle rock, highlands ranch, parker and cherry creek with over 3800 runners participating in the fall and springs series.
