Program areas at Lang Lang International Music Foundation

Keys of inspiration (koi): keys of inspiration is an innovative Music education program that encourages piano performance at all levels as a means of social and emotional development for youth by providing students with a safe creative outlet in public schools. The program has established a replicable pathway into the world of Music, and serves as a model for Music education best practices for public schools across the country. The Foundation partners with school districts across the country to implement the program in title-1 elementary schools. Designed to redefine what Music education looks like in american public schools and inspire change from within, koi weaves rigorous, keyboard-centric, musical instruction into selected title 1 public schools' mandatory curriculum integrating group piano classes for grades 2-5, twice a week. In the koi piano lab, students build self-confidence, develop a drive for excellence, and cultivate a sense of group and individual achievement. The keys of inspiration curriculum is designed to integrate piano into a school's existing general Music curriculum, enhancing their Music program and providing students with a more hands-on Music education. The Foundation is dedicated to cultivating a national musical network, spanning school systems and connecting district leaders, administrators, teachers, and students.selected schools receive the following:- classroom set (20-30) new state of the art roland digital pianos and benches shipped directly to schools- resources and support guides for setting up group piano classrooms- yearly maintenance and budget guides to help plan for long-term success- Music curriculum developed in collaboration with the royal conservatory of Music- supplemental training and ongoing support/professional development for Music teachers
Unique Music events:unique Music event program is a part of our Foundation program, where we provide young pianists the chance to perform and explore. We invite young pianists to attend and get the chance to participate in fun and engaging Music performance opportunities. Such as performing alongside with Lang Lang on special events and recording sessions. Our Foundation has partnerships with many other organizations, which allow us to organize unique performance opportunities. During these events, our young scholars and/or participants will get the chance to perform in front of many different audience groups. This program allows our young scholars and participants to learn and adopt to different performance needs and grow as a performer. Some of the events we have done in the past are: andermatt swiss alps classics event with Lang Lang, nyc lunar new year-student's day at lincoln center, hangzhou high 5 event at nyc grand central station, and many more.
Young scholars: the young scholars program is a unique Music education initiative designed to identify and support extraordinarily talented young pianists in their professional and social development. Every two years, the Foundation welcomes a new class of young scholars to the llimf family. In place since 2008, the young scholars program is the longest running initiative of the Foundation. Students are selected by Lang Lang and gary graffman to receive financial support, exciting performance opportunities, masterclasses with world-renowned teachers, and mentorship.
101 pianists: the 101 pianists performances aim to inspire the next generation of Music lovers and performers by engaging 100 young pianists in a unique social musical event with Lang Lang. In 2009, Lang Lang brought 100 pianists together for a unique performance that produced something greater than any single performer could create alone. To date this program has inspired over 100,000 audience members and piano students internationally.the event is a celebration of the beauty and social nature of the piano, and we recreate this magic in some of the most prestigious International venues in cities like paris, berlin, london, hong kong, and rome.these events have been described by the media and host institutions as "extravaganzas!" This educational workshop and performance provides a unique community centered show for Music lovers of all ages.
