Program areas at Latino Community Foundation of Colorado
ADELANTE COLORADO: Adelante Colorado is dedicated to building the capacities of Latino-led and serving nonprofits and leaders in Colorado. Through a culturally grounded process, 22 established nonprofit organizations were selected as the members of the three-year Adelante Colorado cohort. In 2022, the Adelante Colorado capacity-building program distributed over $330,000 to 17 partner organizations for phase two of their work that was used to engage executive coaches, hire new staff or increase hours, and develop strategic plans. Internal assessments have helped to identify areas of greatest need and focus capacity-building efforts. These assessments are also useful to plan for the final phase of Adelante funding. An additional $273,320 was distributed to four organizations to begin phase 3 of their capacity building work. Capacity building funds are being used to pay for new and existing staff and support organizational growth.REGIONAL COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS SAN LUIS VALLEY: Guided by the principle that authentic change begins within communities, our Regional Community Investments (RCI) centers community leaders' sovereignty and agency in determining the best pathways for improving the lives of Latinos in their communities. The LCFC provides guided assistance through technical assistance, coaching, mentoring, facilitated conversations, timeline implementation, and training on hard skills. December 2022 marked the end of year one of a 16-month planning process that the LCFC is facilitating/managing for the Soul Players of the Valley that will culminate in four inclusive economic recovery plans for the communities of San Luis, Antonito, Capulin and Alamosa. LCFC has helped secure planning funds to support this community led planning process. Each Soul Players of the Valley community continues to work independently and collectively to formulate individualized plans for their respective communities. Once completed, each community will have a road map for revitalizing their community.COMMUNITIES LEAD, COMMUNITIES THRIVE COALITION: Because nonprofits of color and LGBTQ+ organizations play an important role in delivering social services to those in need and are economic drivers for our communities, the LCFC established the Coalition to help drive financial capacity building resources to these communities. Capacity-building resources for these nonprofits are critical need to increase local nonprofit organizations effectiveness and ability to reach communities struggling to recover from COVID-19. The LCFC management of the Coalition helps to address the needs of these nonprofits so that they can continue to directly assist communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. In 2022, the Coalitions was able to have $35 million earmarked for a fund to ensure that the non-profit organizations who serve these communities have the funding necessary to do this important work as a trusted resource for traditionally underserved communities.
