Program areas at Latinos in Action
Held 13 In-Person Youth Leadership Conferences: three in Utah, two in Florida, andone in each of the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Colorado, Nevada, Illinois, Oregon, Washington, and Connecticut. These 1-day Conferences had an Opening and Closing ceremony, competitions, performances, and workshops related toleadership and college and career readiness. Through these conferences, weconnected LIA students, helped them celebrate their culture, and encouraged HighSchool graduation, college enrollment, and college graduation.
Awarded 48 competition monetary prizes: 17 Writing, 17 Visual Arts, and 14 ShortFilm competition scholarships to LIA students in Utah, Florida, Idaho, Nevada,Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, New York, and Illinois.
Held 4 In-Person Student Boot Camps: two in Utah and two in Florida. Students weretrained on how to lead and guide their classes when planning service activities. They also learned fun and engaging social emotional learning (SEL) activities they could take back to their respective schools to help build relationships among all LIA students in the class.
