Description
Leadership Birmingham educates and empowers community leaders to create meaningful civic change. In the 2021-2022 program year, it provided over 250 hours of engaging educational content to a class of 48 diverse leaders from various sectors. The Youth Leadership Forum also offered over 75 hours of educational content to a class of 34 high school sophomores and juniors from the greater Birmingham area. The YLF class of 2022 learned about critical issues in government and leadership skills.

Program areas at Leadership Birmingham

During the 2022-2023 program year, Leadership Birmingham provided over 250 hours of engaging educational content to a class of 53 diverse leaders from the corporate, civic, small business, community, creative, nonprofit, healthcare, judicial, government, religious and academic institutions, sectors, and communities. The Leadership Birmingham class of 2023 learned about our area's critical issues in education, economic development, justice, local and regional government, health, diversity and inclusion, human services, and quality of life through visits to 36 sites and speaking with over 200 experts. They developed lasting relationships and collaborated on six different group projects that positively impact the greater Birmingham community and its people.
The members association continues the networking, education, and inspiration that Leadership Birmingham class members experienced during their program year. There are over 1,500 alumni who make up the Leadership Birmingham members association. During the 2022-2023 program year, the association hosted five educational and social events for its members.
In the 2022-2023 program year, youth Leadership forum provided over 85 hours of engaging educational content to a class of 33 high school sophomores and juniors from the greater Birmingham area. The ylf class of 2023 learned about critical issues in government, human services, the arts, economic development, and education from over 80 community experts at 29 local sites. Ylf class members received an additional ten hours of training in Leadership development, civic responsibility, time management, and college readiness and preparation. The ylf class of 2023 developed deep friendships, expanded their personal networks, and developed the knowledge and desire for deeper civic engagement and action.
