Program areas at Leadership York
Leadership training program - a 9-month in-depth course for individuals who want to increase their knowledge about the community and strengthen Leadership skills. Approximately 40 individuals annually visit local nonprofit organizations, complete community service projects, learn about area systems and services, and make connections with local leaders. They graduate from the Leadership training program fully prepared to serve on nonprofit boards, in the public sector, and in other Leadership roles. The class of 2024 successfully graduated 40 individuals.
Board development - a variety of services designated to strengthen York community nonprofits by increasing the effectiveness of their board members and executive directors; customized training workshops, technical assistance, all on board training series, resource library, board vacancy postings, and nonprofit Leadership academy. During this year, 4 all on board classes and six nonprofit Leadership acadmey sessions were held. Eleven customized board trainings were held.
Future leaders of York - a 7-month program for high school sophomores and juniors that motivates and prepares them for responsible and generous community participation. Each year 21 York county high schools select one to three students to develop their Leadership skills and connections with local leaders and resources so they can make a difference in their schools, religious, and civic communities. The class of 2024 successfully graduated 35 individuals.
Leadership for diverse schools - a 9-month course that enables individuals who work for and with school aged children to respond more effecively to diverse student and parent populations. Graduates are provided resources to help transform their classrooms, schools, districts, and agencies into culturally competent communities. The class of 2024 successfully graduated 16 individuals. Executive connections - a six-session introduction to York county for senior-level executives new to the community or new to their executive role. Every year about 25 professionals use this course to jump-start their understanding of and involvement in the community. The class of 2024 successfully graduated 13 individuals. Mentorship York - allows emerging leaders the chance to meet with reputable leaders in an intimate setting, asking questions or simply listening to their advice of how to be successful. Established leaders look forward to connecting with these ambitious young people to share their experiences because they want to ensure the future of York is led by successful men and women who remember the heritage of our area. Up to 12 highly qualified professionals who are pursuing key Leadership roles in their business and the community are selected annually and matched with a mentor specifically chosen for them from the broad range of community leaders in York county. The class of 2023 graduated 8 mentees. Donated equipment is recorded at the estimated fair value in the period received. In-kind contributions consisted of 24,575 for rent of their office building and 13,911 for payroll and bookkeeping services.
