Government relations: Leadingage Illinois provides advocacy and regulatory technical support to members, including state and federal advocacy representation. Activities include education and updates to members on the impact of recent and anticipated legislation, regulatory changes affecting service providers and residents. Leadingage Illinois also educates and alerts legislators on issues and interests of the senior care industry, including coordinating legislator visits and providing quantitative support of legislative challenges. In 2023, Leadingage Illinois passed legislation to create a continuing care at home program, removed language from the assisted living and shared housing act prohibiting a person from being accepted for residency to an assisted living establishment if the person requires sliding scale insulin, secured a rate increase for adult day Services, passed legislation to require the governor to establish an assisted living and shared housing advisory board to include representatives, advocates, and other stakeholders to discuss assisted living issues and rules, defeated proposed revisions to the assisted living and shared housing establishment code that would have tripled licensure fees and ended providers' opportunity for statements of dispute, defeated legislation that would change entrance fee contracts that would put an arbitrary timeline on entrance fee refunds for Life plan communities, and developed the new legislative visit toolkit which provides members with the tools and resources needed to set up and conduct a successful site visit with your elected representatives.
Membership Services: Leadingage Illinois is a statewide association dedicated to representing the leading providers of the complete continuum of Services for older adults, including nursing care, assisted and supportive living, senior housing and home and community based Services. Leadingage Illinois is highly committed to the advancement of quality and innovation in older adult services.in 2023, Leadingage Illinois launched a new member database, member clicks, allowing members to access and update their member records, developed the workforce solutions toolkit loaded with resources and tools to help members with hiring, onboarding, retention needs and more, created an online archive of emerging leaders professional development sessions aimed at providing self-guided skills development opportunities, produced electronic renewal communications to make member renewal halls free, and offered 800+ job listings on the Leadingage Illinois job board. Through the partnership with value first, members saved roughly $355,000 on new food accounts, approximately $40,000 on medical, and $45,000 with other vendor partners, partners with value first vendors to share insights on helping members with savings solutions through presentations at the annual meeting and expo, workshops, webinars, and individual site visits, and delivered to value first Illinois members' sites providing an average of 12% savings across all categories.
Educational: Leadingage Illinois is committed to providing its members with the best learning opportunities for the most effective costs. With its countless educational sessions, conferences, seminars, and workshops, Leadingage il works to advance its members' understanding of the most important issues in the adult care industry. In 2023, Leadingage Illinois connected over 1,000 attendees at the annual meeting and expo focusing on strategies for thriving in the rapidly changing senior living and Services environment, delivered 25 programs in person and/or online, 11 of which were offered at no charge to members, offered a total of 90 continuing education hours to date, hosted a record-breaking assisted living bootcamp in two locations with over 160 attendees, and hosted a legal webinar series with six different topics and presenters representing three different law firms.
