League for Yiddish

1) to encourage young people to speak Yiddish in their daily lives. 2) to enhance the prestige of Yiddish as a living language and to promote its modernization and standardization. 3) to produce and distribute appropriate study materials for the study of and instruction in, the Yiddish language. All grants and contibutions received from organizations and individuals are used to accomplish the stated objectives. We believe that our programs and projects benefit not only those who participate directly but also enrich our nation's multicultural heritage.

1. Published two issues of our all-yiddish membership magazine, afn shvel, featuring essays, stories and poetry by emerging and prominent Yiddish writers and poets. 2. Produced the second edition of the comprehensive english-yiddish dictionary, published by Indiana university press, which contains 84,000 entries and subentries including expressions, neologism and phrases for contemporary social movements, food specialities, bio-tech and politics. 3. Presented special events for global audiences including conversations with Yiddish writers and literary readings live on facebook, youtube and zoom.
