The League does not support or oppose any political party or any candidate. We do, however, take action on selected government issues in the public interest. The unique decentralized grassroots structure of our largely volunteer-run organization comprises groups working at the national, state, and local levels. No other community-based organization has the scope, depth, history of service, and dedication to ensuring that our democracy here in Los Angeles is supported by an informed electorate. For more than a century, the League of Women Voters of Los Angeles (LWVLA) has been dedicated to the cause of participatory democracy. This cause resonates profoundly with events that are unfolding across the globe and underscores the importance of working to strengthen the role of citizens in maintaining democracy, its values, and its rights.
Election Management Services (EMS) are provided on a fee-for-service basis. This service is consistent with the League's belief in respect for individuals, the value of diversity, and the empowerment of the grassroots, both within the League and in communities. The League administered elections for public housing developments for the County of Los Angeles Housing Authority and the City of Los Angeles Housing Authority. These elections are customized for each location. The populations at these over 14 housing developments are some of the most ignored residents in LosAngeles region. Our election process is designed to give them a voice at city hall. Additionally, the LWVLA administered EMS for private homeowner's association. Elections are administered using the League's implementation policies and best practices the League requires to ensure the process is completed with the upmost of integrity.
