Description
League of Women Voters of Oregon encourages informed and active participation in government to build better communities. Its mission is to influence public policy through education and advocacy. For the May 2022 Oregon primary election, the League provided a non-partisan online voter's guide called "Vote 411," providing information based on user address along with a mobile-friendly interface. It also provided a printed voter's guide covering all state and local candidates and ballot measures, charging for it.

Program areas at League of Women Voters of Oregon

For the Oregon primary election May 2024 the League provided a non-partisan on-line voters guide Vote411 that provided information based on user address. Vote411 covered all state and local candidates and measures. It was mobile-friendly and was provided at no cost to recipients and candidates. From April 11 to May 18 there were almost 8,000 visits from across Oregon. The average reading time was 7 minutes indicating substantial voter engagement. Class 303 + 313
The LWVOR supports a Youth Council launched in early 2023 to directly connect young peoples priorities and concerns to civic engagement. Opportunities to participate include workshops training panel presentations and outreach within their local communities. Youth Council members engage in local civic events educating peers on voting and nonpartisan advocacy. LWVOR also sponsored a Mock Election during the spring 2024 primary for state high school students enabling students across the state to gain the experience of registering for and voting in an mock election.
For the Oregon primary election in May 2024 the League provided a non-partisan printed voters guide The Voters Guide provides complete candidate and ballot measure coverage for all Oregon state and local candidates and ballot measures. The League charges neither the candidates nor voters fees for the Voters Guide. 14,235 Voters Guides were distributed in print in English and 4,810 in print in Spanish. The Voter Guide was also distributed online in English and Spanish in audio reader compatible formatting in podcast and video voters guide formats and for registered clients of the Talking Book and Braille Library through the Oregon State Library.
