Program areas at League of Women Voters of the District of Columbia

Full Rights Grant. The purpose of the full rights grant is to mobilize more people nationwide in support of DC voting rights and statehood through mobilizing grassroots efforts. Accomplishments include getting 22 organizations as resources presenting to students across the US on DC statehood creating educational presentations on the DC Home Rule Act authoring blogs that reached over 9000 LWV leaders meeting with DC Council members and other key stakeholders hosting community movie screenings interviewing DC residents on statehood importance and coordinating art exhibitions of quilts for statehood.
Youth Outreach - Education & Engagement. The purpose of the youth grant is to support and engage young voters in high schools community colleges and vocational schools. In addition to providing voter education presentation and information to voters the LWV reminded voters of upcoming election deadlines.
Incarcerated Voters. The purpose of the incarcerated voters grant is to provide voter registration voter education and voter guide opportunities to incarcerated DC voters. Accomplishments includes participating in focus groups registering voters in the DC jail working with the federal BOP to expand voter education to incarcerated DC voters across the country and leading educational classes.
