Learning Equality is driven to empower individuals worldwide with the ability to access a first-rate education. They achieve this by endorsing the development, customization and dissemination of open educational resources, along with implementing helpful tools for inventive teaching methods. In 2021, Learning Equality concentrated on reinforcing the progress of learning and remedying educational setbacks due to school closings during the pandemic. Program areas at Learning Equality

We continued to develop Kolibri, an adaptable end-to-end suite of open-source tools, educational resources, and support materials designed for offline-first teaching and learning. Kolibri is now available in 31 languages, and in use in more than 220 countries and territories. In 2022, we were selected as an MIT Solver team. As part of the MIT Solve Global Challenge, we applied an offline approach to project-based learning in a new collaboration supported by the LEGO Foundation with HAF-Uganda and Amal Alliance. We also released Kolibri v0.15, the Take Home release to support hybrid learning, developed a new metadata taxonomy for Kolibri Studio to improve content discoverability, co-hosted a Kaggle competition with The Learning Agency to help automate the process of curriculum alignment, created the Kolibri Community Directory to help community members connect and learn from each other, and conducted 13 training sessions with dedicated Kolibri partners supporting learning in refugee camps, remedial learning centers, community technology access centers, and more.
