Program areas at Legacy Treatment Services

Adolescent residential Services - the adolescent residential Services division offers a therapeutic residential alternative for children and youth unable to live at home due to circumstances involving trauma, abuse and neglect. The therapeutic foster care program places children with a loving foster parent while receiving community supports and Treatment, working toward reunification wherever possible. Community residences for children are five-bed homes with varying levels of care that provide structured programming and Treatment for youth experiencing emotional issues. Intimate home environments and a multidisciplinary Treatment team help youth become emotionally secure individuals and positive contributors to society. Legacy also offers in-home clinical and behavioral supports for families of children with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.
Emergency Services - Legacy's emergency Services offer a variety of crisis response Services and hospitalization alternatives. Legacy operates the state designated screening and crisis intervention program as well as the state designated children's mobile response and stabilization system for burlington county. Kairos house (burlington county) and crosswinds (ocean county) are short-term residential programs that offer counseling, Treatment, and case management for adults experiencing or on the verge of a psychiatric crisis. Finally, involuntary outpatient commitment coordinates community Services and supports to promote Treatment adherence for court-ordered seriously mentally ill adults in atlantic, burlington, middlesex and monmouth counties.
Ambulatory Services - Legacy's ambulatory Services offer a number of Services including prevention, Treatment, and case management. The outpatient department offers therapy and psychiatric Services for children, adults and families, and substance abuse Services for adults and adolescents. Path and supportive housing provide case management and supportive Services to help adults with mental illness obtain housing and remain successfully in the community. The school based youth Services program offers counseling, life skills, and prevention programming for pemberton high school students. The cap program provides case management and skills training for youth involved with or at risk of involvement with the justice system. Legacy operates a therapeutic after-school program for department of child protection and permanency (dcp&p) referred youth; and reunification Services for dcp&p referred families. Agency prevention Services include a family success center offering care coordination, linkages, advocacy and ongoing training opportunities to burlington county residents; as well as the learning academy which provides tutoring for low income children k through 8. The family crisis intervention unit (fciu) offers crisis intervention and short-term counseling to divert youth (and their families) from the formal court system.
The mary a. dobbins school - the mary a. dobbins school is an approved new jersey state department of education private school for students with disabilities. The state-approved special education school offers an academic program with a highly therapeutic environment for boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 21 experiencing learning disabilities, behavioral problems, and emotional disturbance. In addition, the school offers a vocational cosmetology program, which was opened in february 2008. This vocational program provides 9 - 12th grade students with classroom instruction encompassing theoretical, practical, and experiential learning in the cosmetology arts and small business ownership and operation. The curriculum of the mary a. dobbins school meets the core curriculum standards set by the state of new jersey andincludes individualized instruction, anti-bullying, and character education. Children who participate in the program are referred by their local school districts. Individual districts are responsible for each student's tuition.
