Program areas at LSHV

Lshv serves low-income residents of the Hudson Valley, from young children to seniors. More than 85% of the cases are brought by clients who are at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines (60,000 for a family of four in 2023) or are of a vulnerable population. the 2023 cases brought to us by the following subpopulations: 61% of cases brought by clients identifying as black, indigenous or people of color, 70% of cases from females, 11.7% from victims of crime and/or domestic violence, 37% from clients with disabilities and 25% from the elderly. Additionally, lshv provided 1,113,411.85 in rental and financial assistance to 237 households/clients. In total for 2023, lshv handled over 12,000 cases impacting over 28,400 household members throughout the seven-county service area. Our vision is to help create a society where all individuals have equal access to justice. Lshv is committed to actively opposing racism and changing systems that tolerate and effectuate all forms of oppression.
