Program areas at Legal Voice
Sexual violence law program: through trauma informed, holistic, survivor-centered Legal advocacy that is based in race and gender equity principles the svl program provides direct representation to protect the privacy, safety, and civil rights of survivors of sexual violence.
Legislative advocacy program: our advocacy work is a direct reflection of community's priorities, needs, and hopes. Through community lawyering, we center the community's vision of change and prioritize leadership development. Together we draft and advocate for polices at the state and local levels that incorporate the goals of those most marginalized and defend against bills and policies that will impede progress. We believe that those closest to the pain should also be closest to the power.
Litigation program: we partner closely with those directly impacted to identify Legal issues that will have a broad impact across communities. Through these partnerships, we participate as counsel and/or amicus curiae in cases that have the ability to change or create new law, elevate community voices and experiences, and provide opportunities to build community and collective power.
Public education program: through our public education program (pep), Legal Voice provides stakeholders, allies, and community partners with information about the law and their Legal rights. We often partner with community groups on trainings, presentations, and the development of know your rights materials, and are seeking to make this information as accessible as possible.
