Program areas at Columbus Amsterdam Business Improvement District
Sanitation - A Sidewalk Crew provides a thorough street sweeping seven days a week, trash bagging, removal of graffiti and stickers from street furniture and public property. The efforts resulted in 17,000 bags of trash collected. During the winter snow and ice are shoveled from intersection crosswalks, corners, curbs and drains to facilitate safer travel in the district and access to shops.
Beautification and Neighborhood Definition - Provided holiday lighting and banners, maintained 200 tree pits, 7 planters, 8 street furniture elements, 28 trash cans, 66 bike racks and the 110th Street Green Street. In conjunction with NYC agencies the BID Opened Amsterdam and Columbus Avenues since Aug20 to pedestrian and bike use on weekends. 2 long-term temporary, 1 extended performance and numerous public art installations have been created. Music and dance performances and craft activities have been added to the Open Streets. Monthly history walks and talks have been provided virtually which tell the story and encourage interest in the area.
Promotion - The BID fosters a strong sense of community through promotion of the areas business interests, participation in community events, and management of marketing and BID promotion services including preparing online versions of a monthly events calendar, an up-to-date list of community services and a current restaurant guide for the area. The BID created a TAKE-OUT and DELIVERY GUIDE for restaurants on our website and in the BloomingdaleRestaurants.nyc and promoted it with social media and ads in local online news and events on the Open Streets.
