Program areas at Life Matters

Academic enrichment: our academic enrichment afterschool program provides homework assistance, including math, reading and writing skills, and special project/activities assigned by the child's teachers/professors. We create a fun, safe and enriching environment for students. Academic enrichment is open to students of any age. Our goal is to create an environment that fosters learning and serves as an extension of the classroom to address difficult challenges. We enlist volunteers willing to oversee daily study sessions, including interaction with the teachers of our elementary and middle school aged youths.
Zumba class: a dance fitness program involves dance and aerobic movements performed to energetic music. The choreography incorporates hip-hop, samba salsa, merengue and mambo. Participants also engage in squats and lunges. Separate classes for kids and adults.
Grocery giveaway: the grocery giveaway at the Life center is a project that supplements the weekly groceries of families in the logan park apartments. We feed a community who sometimes are faced with not having enough food to sustain their families from one paycheck to another. Our goal is to create a program which attracts individuals dedicated to making a difference in the fight against hunger in our country in general, but specifically in logan park.
