Program areas at Life Story Club
Life Story Club served a total of 345 older adults. In 2023, we organized 20 clubs, small groups of older adults, who come together for one hour on a weekly basis to share Life stories and stave off the negative health effects of loneliness. Clubs meet via videoconferencing and teleconferencing. Meetings are guided by a Club facilitator, who helps to foster meaningful conversation and connection between participants. Facilitators hosted four in-person celebratory gatherings for participants to meet up in person and deepen the relationships they've formed virtually and over the phone. In 2023, we beta-launched the Life Story library, a digital collection of Life stories of our Club participants where our older adults can create legacy Story projects together and share their stories with loved ones and beyond. After a successful pilot program in 2021 working with health providers and health systems to refer patients experiencing loneliness and/or social isolation, the Life Story Club team in 2023 was able to renew funding support to launch our storyrx program with several health partners.
