Program areas at Lifespan Local
Community-informed construction project to build a 38k squarefoot community center. The center will house a branch of the public library, early childhood education, a youth center, hydroponic gardens, a teaching kitchen, a community event space, and more.
Our food team doubled the size of the southwest food coalition, bringing together 40 organizations to work together to ensure access to healthy, culturally responsive food for residents, and delivering more than 1,000,000 pounds of food. The southwest food coalition (resident-led, with administrative and funding support from Lifespan Local) is moving the needle in addressing food insecurity and creating systems change. The coalition motivated food access organizations to communicate, collaborate and share resources with each other.
Our maternal mental health team enrolled more than 75 families in our peer-to-peer programming, provided 350 children with clothing, toys, and diapers, provided 1-on-1 resource navigation to 30 families, and hosted monthly events for families like field trips, educational talks, and community baby showers.
Our public health team reached more than 4,500 community members with information about covid-19, connecting residents to resources to get vaccinations, providing at-home test kits and masks, and reaching pockets of community members who still had significant barriers to accessing information, resources, and care.
Our family leadership and education programming was delivered to 44 youth and 20 adults, cultivating parenting skills, leadership and civic literacy skills.
