Program areas at Lincoln Park Conservancy
Education/volunteer programs - 1) north pond gardeners/lincoln Park corporate workday program/lincoln Park litter patrol: train and manage corps of 1,500 volunteers to plant wildflowers, seed, identify and remove invasive species, prune and mulch trees/shrubs, maintain native plants in urban prairies, woodlands and wetlands; pickup litter and educate them on the importance of native plants and animals to our environment and regional history. Volunteers contributed over 2,700 service hours to the program in 2022, added over 1,000 native plants & trees, picked up hundreds of pounds of litter. 2) Lincoln Park docents: in 2022, we welcomed our first new class of docent trainees back. Our active docents total over 100 and in 2022 interacted with over 70,000 conservatory and lilly pool visitors.
Capital improvement planning - implemented the restoration of the north pond nature sanctuary (15 acres) and improvement of 36 acres of public Park land surrounding it.
Maintenance of donor-restored Park sites - staff restored and maintained the alfred caldwell lily pool, north pond nature sanctuary, and other previous projects in Lincoln Park.
