Lions World Vision Institute (lwvi) is a combined eye bank and ocular research center that empowers researchers to conduct real-time studies of healthy and diseased ocular tissue. We are the largest distributor of corneas throughout the World providing services from the largest eye bank network World. We have introduced 10 ocular tissue processing and delivery innovations over the past 10 years that streamline cornea transplantation and improve clinical outcomes. We were the first eye bank to provide pre-loaded corneas into the marketplace, and the largest of corneas worldwide. As a nonprofit, we are grounded in the belief that everyone deserves the gift of sight. (continued on schedule o)we are committed to honoring the gift from our donors by recovering tissue to improve the lives of the people in the community we serve. Our senior management team has a combined 100+ years' experience in organ, tissue and cornea recovery, processing, distribution, non-profit management, and transplantation. We are approved as provider of ocular tissue in over 70 countries around the World. Since 1969, we have brought the gift of sight to more than 500,000 men, women, and children. The organization's eye bank service is known for its practice excellence in service quality and innovation constantly developing new processing techniques and products to streamline cornea transplantation and improve cornea transplant clinical outcomes. The organization was the first to offer a preloaded ultra-thin dsaek preparation using fluid injection that significantly reduced endothelial cell loss improving clinical outcomes.our proprietary no-touch hydro-dissection preparation of grafts for dmek procedures reduced endothelial cell loss leading to improved clinical outcomes. Our design and studies of a weiss glass cannula allows for ultra-tin dsaek and dmek grafts to be transplanted using fluid injection through a significantly smaller incision reducing endothelial cell loss and improving clinical outcomes.in our ocular research center, we are working on long-term studies related to treatments for age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma. We are leading the industry in innovations to advance the eye banking industry, while working on eye bank development around the World. In november 2018, the Institute partnered with rti donor services, Inc. (rtids), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing responsible stewardship of the gift of tissue donation and announced an expanded relationship to increase efficiencies in tissue donation and enhance patients' lives. Through this relationship, each partner focuses on its core area of expertise. The Institute manages all aspects of tissue recovery services for Florida hospitals in rtids ' former service area, and rtids focuses specifically on acquiring tissue for processing and distribution. This expansion moved the Institute from exclusively procuring eye tissue to assuming responsibility for procurement of bone, skin, heart valves, connective tissue and veins used in surgical procedures and medical research at hospitals throughout the united states.
Public & professional education - increase awareness of need for tissue procurement with long term goal of increasing the number of donors, changing more people's lives, and honoring the gift.
