Program areas at Little Pink Houses of Hope
Little Pink's signature model of family and couples' retreats offer an opportunity for holistic healing while patients are on the difficult cancer journey. 22 retreats were held during the year and $691,579 of lodging, meals and activities were donated. By securing housing for families in local retreat communities and leveraging the compassion of local networks of volunteers, the retreat programs continue to expand and grow. In 2023, more than 192 families were served with a week-long retreat vacation. Additionally, by providing travel assistance for those with demonstrated financial need, we are ensuring that everyone that is chosen can attend. This is making a powerful impact for low socioeconomic families as well as single mothers. Hundreds of volunteers help support with direct service to the families leading up to the retreat weeks as well as during the retreat week.
The boxes of Hope program gives breast cancer patients a box of care support mailed directly to their home. This is designed to help patients who may not be able to physically attend a retreat. The boxes of items specifically chosen to help aid in their emotional and mental healing. Additionally, the program includes messages from family and friends as a special surprise.
The children of Hope scholarship is available to graduating seniors of parents or guardians who have attended any lphoh retreat. In 2023, five $1,000 scholarships were awarded to attend university, community college or trade school.
