Program areas at Live Wildly Foundation
Marketing and brand development:live Wildly was created to raise public awareness and support for wildlife corridor conservation, and jump-start a movement to fully protect and connect these critical networks. Stretching from the panhandle to the everglades, the Florida wildlife corridor is a statewide network of public and private lands encompassing nearly 18 million acres, or nearly 50% of the sunshine state.economically and ecologically, culturally and commercially, the Florida wildlife corridor is integral to Florida's future. However, we found most people don't know much about the corridor, or the huge value it plays in local economies, ecology, and community well-being. To address this disconnect, Live Wildly engages in a variety of traditional and digital marketing and content creation activities. In 2022, we engaged 275,000 advocates through our website, blog, email newsletter, paid marketing outlets, news coverage, public service announcements, and social media posts.
Public education events:states like Florida are experiencing a population boom - adding more than 1,200 new residents every day - while also balancing a changing climate and strains on critical resources like drinking water. Wildlife corridors hold the key to securing healthier, more sustainable communities for the future. In addition to our marketing efforts described above, we are providing public education through strategic in-person events. In 2022, staff set up information booths at icast (international convention of allied sportfishing trades) in orlando, with more than 12,000 in attendance, and hive at miami art week, with more than 115,000 in attendance. By participating in events with diverse audiences, we are able to speak directly to people about the varied values that connect them to the corridor.
Collaboration & partnerships: our goal is to ensure nature is at the table for planning, development and investment decisions. Through collaboration with partner organizations, Live Wildly is helping citizens understand their direct connection to corridors, and the value they play in everyday life. This 18 million acre wildlife superhighway is a model for public-private partnership, citizen advocacy, and grassroots support that other corridor initiatives could learn from and replicate. Key Live Wildly partners to date include: conservation Florida, Florida trail association, Florida wildlife federation, wildpath, archbold, Florida wildlife corridor Foundation, ducks unlimited, Florida bicycle association, the izaak walton league, Florida state parks, and Florida state parks Foundation.
