Program areas at LMH Health Foundation
Cancer center -- donors provide more than 7 millon for cancer center expansion. Improvements to the LMH Health cancer center will begin soon. The renovations will create an environment that cultivates healing, is focused on a patient-first experience and is reflective of the extraordinary care within the space. Remodeling costs are expected to be 1112 million; LMH Health Foundation has received more than 7.2 million in support and continues to gratefully accept contributions. Work is scheduled to be finished in 2025. The multi-accredited center is a regional destination for progressive, integrated hematology and oncology care. It is home to numerous clinical trials, high-risk and genetic screening, and a comprehensive survivorship program.
Advancing Health equity -- help and healing fund where donor support ensures that patients with financial barriers have the medications, medical equipment, transportation, medication for sexual assault survivors and other resources that are vital to their recovery; the leadership academy is a collaboration among usd 497, LMH Health and the LMH Health Foundation. The program offers a paid eight-week mentorship, introducing high school students to careers in healthcare. It focuses on students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in healthcare, which is part of our ongoing efforts to address inequity in healthcare. The academy is funded by community donations to the LMH Health Foundation; donor funds provided 41,000+ worth of free mammograms and support kits for patients in need in 2023. In 2023, LMH Health Foundation awarded 46 scholarships and other professional development opportunities totaling nearly 88,000 to our hardworking employees and students. Gifts from our generous donors make it possible to support these individuals who are furthering their education in healthcare and related fields. The Foundation also provided funding for to support the patient valet program that 1,300 cars parked for patients with mobility issues or fragile Health conditions. Other Health equity-centered programs funded by the Foundation includes care fund to support employees in need, catch-a-break and marios closet to support patients with cancer, support for chronic care management for patients with mobility and financial limitations and charitable care.
Patient-centered technology initiatives, such as a positron emission tomography (pet) scanner, exemplify healthcare services at LMH Health. A pet scan is invaluable to staging a cancer diagnosis and in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment. For cardiology patients, pet provides enhanced imaging to diagnose heart disease and assess damage to heart muscle. Having this equipment permanently on site means patients don't have to travel as far and results can be available faster. Generous donor gifts to the LMH Health Foundation made these leading-edge services possible. LMH Health Foundation's commitment to supporting advances in patient-centered technology started in 2023 and will continue in 2024. The Foundation also provided funding for other capital items to support patient services, such as pediatric drills, blood analyzer, ultrasound, remodel for the emergency department, a wheelchair lift for the rooftop garden and much more.
