New york state social block grant reinbursable grant to help underwrite expenses to recruit 650 skill-baseddisaster volunteers to assist with sandy relief/recovery; to coordimate efforts with Long Island Long termrecovery group and Long Island coads(community organizations active in disaster); to conduct training and Volunteer orientation for cerc volunteers; to participate in resource fairs and events to recruit volunteers and providelogistics support to disaster groups; increase emergency preparedness through outreach, education and serviceprojects; and to maintain a call Center for volunteers and sandy affected homeowners that need referrals todisaster support service including Volunteer groups.

New york state Volunteer generation fund reimbursable grant to help underwrite expenses to increase theprofile of volunteerism and recruit 51,000 new volunteers in the region. Expenses were incurred for media/pr/marketing, tracking/reporting Volunteer numbers, sponsoring large scale community service projects that engaged volunteers, sponsoring national days of service including september 11, mlk holiday, and nationalvolunteer week; and sponsoring corporate days of service.
