The critical response program: in 2022-23 included rental assistance, guaranteed income pilots, and clothing assistance program.rental assistance programs (rap)- rap provides ongoing, cash payments for community members who are otherwise unable to pay their rent in two geographical regions: the city of west hollywood and the wider Los Angeles metro area. In 2022-23, we served households in the city of west hollywood who were impacted by covid-19 and who are financially recovering from pandemic related setback as well as female headed, rental households in the wider Los Angeles area. Clients are referred to us by a wide network of community partners. This program currently serves 50 households a year. Guaranteed income program (gip) -- ncjw|la is proud to be one of the first nonprofits in Los Angeles to develop, launch, and administer four guaranteed income (gi) pilot projects, directly serving over 200 Women: cash for caregivers, a 12-month micro-pilot for female caregivers and healthcare workers in northeast Los Angeles (final disbursement in june 2022); west hollywood pilot for guaranteed income, which provides $1,000/month for 25 older adults earning below hud's very low income (50% ami) over 18 months (first disbursement in august 2022); and two pilots in development in 2022-23, a health equity pilot in partnership with two Los Angeles area hospitals and a pilot directed to pregnant people with funding from the California department of social services. 25 households received direct support in fy 2022-23. Clothing and household assistance program (chap) chap provides retail gift cards to our clients as well as the clients and families affiliated with a network of 30+ community organization partners in Los Angeles. (1,200 clients/year)
Advocacy:advocacy training project (atp)- atp is a hands-on interactive, multi-level, course-based program designed to engage community activists and help them translate passion for a cause into tangible action and advocacy. (75-100 participants/year)
Enrichment:scholarships funds are available for southern California students, including awards specifically for non-traditional students and students pursuing vocational degrees, teaching credentials, nursing degrees, and for female students who are returning to school after an extended time off. (36 recipients/year)
