Program areas at Louisiana Museum Foundation
Educational & public outreach support: funding and services provided by the lmf helped make possible the following educational and public outreach programming: for the cabildo: the lmf continues to support a creative aging series, featuring senior adult beading and drumming workshops.for the new orleans jazz Museum at the old u.s. mint: through grants and community donations, the lmf supported almost all of the Museum's musical and public outreach programming, including the Museum's balcony and courtyard concerts, sound collage/luna fete, annual jazz improvisations gala, and nola riverfest.for the Louisiana sports hall of fame and northwest Louisiana history Museum: through community contributions, lmf paid for advertising to market the Museum to attract visitation.overall public outreach and marketing: (1) lmf engaged on social media platforms promoting and highlighting lmf and Museum projects and events. (2) lmf enabled funding for the lsm and jazz Museum to market collections, facilities, projects and public and educational outreach programs through various social media and other advertising outlets.
Exhibitions support: funding and services provided by the lmf helped make possible the following major exhibitions:at the cabildo (jackson square new orleans): creole new orleans, honey! The art of andrew lamar hopkins, an exhibition featuring the first solo Museum exhibition of a living african-american artist and a full color hardback catalogue. Hopkins is a self-taught artist who brings nineteenth-century new orleans creole culture to life with detailed and colorful paintings. The lmf hosted the exhibition opening in november 2022.at the capital parks Museum (baton rouge): hbcu history project at capitol park Museum in baton rouge the lmf supported updates to the permanent galleries in baton rouge, a second phase of the current exhibit. The first phase of the hbcu exhibit includes archival photos, interpretive panels with campus highlights, and specifically curated artifacts, such as uniforms worn by band members and football teams. The exhibit occupies space on two floors and is easy to navigate by following floor stickers showing the way. The second phase of the exhibit includes video presentations and a broader build-out to display additional memorabilia, information, and photos.
