Program areas at Love
Operate a central clearinghouse to refer people in need to volunteers in churches or social services agencies. Those in need are screened for eligibility and referred to clothing closets, food pantries, and other noncash assistance. Some callers receive help with housing or transportation through payments to third parties such as landlords and car repair businesses. Partner churches contribute the funds for the expenses.
Transformational Ministry: Organized and equipped 25 volunteers from partner churches to offer weekly classes and mentoring to those in need. Offered a 12-week course, "Affirming Your Potential," to five people and six trained volunteers to mentor them. The course teaches individuals to affirm their intrinsic value, to develop achievable goals, and to plan for the future. Volunteers met post-course to evaluate and restructure the course to be more effective in 2024.
