Program areas at Lumbee Land Development
Housing - the Lumbee tribal housing program began in october 2001 to provide low-income tribal members with safe, sanitary, and decent housing. This program rehabilitates existing homes, replaces dilapidated homes with mobile homes, rental assistance, down payment assistance on the purchase of a home, construction of a home, and temporary housing for displaced eligible members. Housing crime prevention services are provided through youth services for school-age children by addressing leadership skills, cultural services, and pathways to adulthood with approximately 500 students in attendance daily.
Energy assistance - the Lumbee tribe has an energy program that is funded by the department of health and human services. This program addresses the heating and cooling needs of low-income american indian households. This program services approximately 6,000 families annually.
Vocational rehabilitation - the Lumbee tribe provides services to individuals with disabilities to guide them in the direction of gainful employment. This program is funded by the department of education. These services can be in the form of health services, education, providing necessary job tools, and on-the-job training.
