Program areas at Lymelight Foundation

Lymelight Foundation provides medical grants up to $10,000 (cumulative) to lyme infected children and young adults who cannot pay for necessary medication and therapies. Grants funds cover doctor visits, medications, supplements, lab testing, alternative therapies and transportation to out of area physicians. In 2023, 254 total grants were awarded: 141 to new individuals and 113 to existing recipients. As most insurance companies do not cover the treatment of chronic lyme disease, families are typically left on their own to battle the disease, often incurring extreme medical debt. By providing critical treatment, Lymelight bridges the gap of enormous unmet need. Since its inception in 2011, Lymelight has awarded grants totaling $9,100,370 to 1,289 individuals in 49 states.
LymeLight Foundation continues to promote and utilize the video series called Patient Talk. LymeLight collaborated with other organizations to produce the series in 2017 where real patients tell their stories in addressing the practical, physical and emotional issues they faced when dealing with a life changing Lyme disease medical diagnosis. These educational medical videos detail the long and difficult journeys faced by those with Lyme disease. The videos also provide important information about diagnosis and treatment protocols. The video series has been extremely well received by both the Lyme community and by the broader audience of the general public. It has become a key educational tool.
Lymelight Foundation is dedicated to educating the public on the truth and misconceptions about identifying, contracting and fighting lyme disease. Lymelight Foundation hosts and participates in several lymeawareness and fundraising events including dart for art. Active supporters include singer-song writer avril lavigne and auxiliary and fundraising events in 28 states.
