Program areas at Lyncag
The lyn-caLyncagag head start program is comprised of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. They made improvements with increases in their school readiness during the 2021 -2022 school year. Their overall approaches to learning using the teaching strategies gold assessment. The fall/beginning year baseline percentages were at 87 %, it decreased to 80% during the winter/ mid-year assessment term and decreased to 58% for the spring/end-year assessment term. By the spring kindergarten readiness in the lyn-caLyncagag head start program had 68% of their students ready in the social emotional development area, 72% were ready in the physical development area, 48% in the language development area, 40% in the cognitive development area, 12 % in the literacy development area and 6 % in the math development area. The school readiness education committee decided that the overall program would focus on increasing language and literacy development during the 2022-2023 school year by having language and literacy training for teachers during the 2022 -2023 school year.
Lyncag employment services offers job readiness workshops for clients. A total of 221 clients were served in the 2022-2023 program year. Clients are prepared for the workplace and receive assistance with a professional resume, documents, job searches, work attire and tools. Training opportunities are provided for those who qualify in health care. Advance health care occupations, cyber security, hospitality and cdl training are offered through partnerships. Lyncag also partners with employers to provide resources and subsidies for their employees.
Weatherization the Lyncag weatherization program serviced 41 homes in Lynchburg and campbell county. The weatherization deferral repair program serviced 15 clients with substantial rehab to make them weatherization ready. Weatherization services include energy savings measures such as insulation, hvac repair and replacement, air sealing and safety testing. Bil, liheap and doe funding is used for weatherization projects.
