Program areas at Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center
The center exists as: a community resource for individuals needing to relinquish their cat or dog, a place to take stray animals and a source of adoptable companion animals. We provide a healthy, temporary home where physical and emotional Animal needs are met. All animals are vaccinated and both medically and behaviorally assessed. Stray intakes, owner surrenders, and transfers in during this fiscal year: 455 cats and 376 dogs. Strays surrendered to the center and returned to their owners: 30 cats and 77 dogs. Adoptions during the fiscal year: 465 cats and 317 dogs.
Education & outreach: improved Animal welfare through humane education. During the fiscal year: eight education courses for children entering grades one through six were offered during school breaks. High school leadership groups,businesses, civic groups and community leaders toured our facility,resulting in increased knowledge of appropriate Animal treatment. Over 590 volunteers with a cumulative of 2,573.89 hours of service were educated on caring for our adoptable animals while in their temporary home at our center.
