Program areas at Macon Program for Progress
Head start - produces optimal development of children and families so they can live satisfying, productive, and self-sufficient lives. A comprehensive approach adresses education, social, health, nutrition, adult development, transportation, and mental health based on family needs.these include income, disabilities, enviromental factors, and other specific needs. Includes children with disabilities through a developmental day Program grant to provide childcare for children from birth to age three and practices full inclusion in all aspects of the programs.
Housing - provides financial assistance with monthly rent and utility payments for qualified families and individuals, and makes homes warmer, cooler and more energy efficient for qualified families and individuals.
Community services - provides assistance with job placement for adults and provides access to and information about Macon Program for Progress services as well as services provided by other agencies.
Smart start - improves the quality of child care, makes child care more affordable and accessible, provides access to health services and offers family support. Child food - all head start children 0 to 5 years old are eligible for the cacfp food Program. The Program provides nutritious foods that contribute to the wellness, healthy growth, and development of young children. Head start children receive breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack each day of attendance.
