Program areas at Magnificat Houses

The Organization works to rebuild lives in a stable family atmosphere where residents live, work and play together. Altogether, our 16 safe, dignified neighborhood homes house up to 132 men and women. Through participation in our community and our programs, residents work toward stability and, if possible, full independence. The Organization provides emergency residences for 1 to 90 nights, permanent supportive homes and single occupancy units. Residents share household chores and responsibilities, respect one another's traditions, celebrate holidays and birthdays together, and participate in day trips.
We offer uplifting, empowering programs for those with mental health diagnoses through St. Joseph Clubhouse (located in Midtown Houston) which is SAMHSA approved and certified by the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD). In the community we build, our members participate fully in daily operations and decision making and demonstrate that mental illness need not carry a stigma - that, given the tools, people with mental health concerns can be productive members of society with much to offer.
Loaves & Fishes is a large soup kitchen in downtown Houston where 200 to 300 of Houston's chronically hungry gather six days a week for nutritious, hot, home-cooked lunches prepared by our staff and served by volunteers.
In October 2022, Magnificat Houses, Inc. (MHI) and a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing finalized a 99-year ground lease of land from MHI on which a 149-unit apartment development, to be known as RoseMary's Place, will be built for those experiencing homelessness in Houston. Construction is expected to be completed in 2024. Magnificat Houses will not operate the development; however, the organization will provide supportive services to residents of RoseMary's Place for at least the first year of operations.
The Organization operates a retail training center and other activities to assist in providing rehabilitation and life skills to residents.
